A Funny Thing
I painted it like I write, and that would best be described as Walking on Alligators.
Write first, read it later, see if it looks right.
Paint first, look at it later, see if you still like it.

from a million years ago
Will I EVER finish it?
Who knows.
From a warrior woman from the plains...
One crow, Sorrow
Two crows Joy.
Three crows a Girl,
Four crows a Boy.
Five crows Silver,
Six crows, Gold.
Seven crows a Secret, never to be told.
Speaking of Crows...

I Didn't Think it was That Bad...
Plus I got a few pastels from the area, too.
But, that's ALL I got...
No ribbons, no prizes, and for sure, no hanging in the TC Steele Museum for a month...

Favorite Figure
These border on abstract because they are what my brain reconstructs, add in some contemporary ELLE and next thing you know, I'm begging naked photographs from girls...
Really a bad boy, I guess...
(if you know my e-mail address, feel free to send whatever photos you want to contribute...)
d=^))
Meanwhile...
Another Blue Robe (pastel)
Is This What You Like, boneman? (pastel)
originally I though the title should be:
I Took My Shirt Off for the Necklace,
but, If You Want the Panties Off,
You're Going to have to Chew Them Off...
(which is a bit long, eh?)

Some Naked Lady Reading the Book of North American Authors, and other stories by Connell
Reading the North American Authors
(In all fairness, she was wearing a peach colored robe when I took the picture. I dunno what happened, there...)(OK, maybe I know what happened)
Smoking Out the Balcony
I quit smoking back in 2002 and haven't broken down, yet.
Am tempted on occasion. I WILL use a smoker for a patch if I have to, and it drives them nuts. I just stand close to them and sniff the air.
They ask..."whatcha doing?" I say I quit smoking, but, needed a quick "patch"...they offer a cigarette, I decline and sniff them till they leave.
The two of us were worried about our being a smoker and a non smoker together, but, strangely (and to absolutely NO credit to my two ex wives who complained bitterly from the first day of marriage till the divorces) ...it didn't bother me at all.
Her breath was a bit smokey but she would drink a pop or something.
Her kisses were like kissing an angel...
Just as sweet as a drop of honey.
Jeanie (with too many face lines)
I have to explore all the aspects of drawing and painting for a bit.
The more focused I can get, the better.
However, Jeanie said that I add just one more line on her face she's gonna clobber me.
I don't get it.
I thought people were supposed to be happy about growing old?
(uh...not that Jeanie is growing old, mind you. In fact, she stopped having birthdays years ago...)(many, many years ago)
So, lets talk about REALLY old. This barn was built in the sixties...
Old Gray Barn Outside Thorntown
Not a bad picture if you consider that I dropped it while I was painting it.
I recorded the process, so, soon enough, a quickie lesson about how to fix a mistake in oil paints. And a quickie is always good from me...
Oh, yeah...
The barn WAS built in the sixties...
1867.
No wonder the roof is going bad.

36 degrees and boneman drifts out to the fields
and, while that doesn't mean he's outstanding in his field, it does mean I have more cobwebs to shake off....
But this was a nice "second" start...
Added bonus...
the vultures didn't come back
and eye me over for a possible
late afternoon snack...

If I Don't Go ANYWHERE, I'll Still Be Late
Seems like catching up is the going gig for the older one gets.
Either that or I'm disorganized,
have a messy bedroom floor,
and am a great cook.

Is It my Imagination?
10"x 10"
is it harder to paint a small picture than a large picture?
I dunno...
This is just one picture,...
though..I should add.
Enjopy it if you want
You won't likely see a wrap around done with this "wrap around" picture from me, again, soon.

I tried to paint a picture of Jeanie, but, used too much blue. It's OK, though. I scraped off the paint as best as possible, and am awaiting her to arrive on the 9:15 to slap me.d=^))
I dunno...ALL the famous artists paint people with blue, don't they?
Even green, sometimes.

From Big to Small to Huge
I had heard about the project for a couple of months. Then last Friday they gave me the canvas. It had been painted on the reverse side, which was the ONLY reason I could finish it in time to hang Sunday.
here's the work...
The canvas is really a pair of canvases...8' x 12' and 4' x 12'
Wall paint for the big areas, acrylics for accent details.
Not bad for a short period at it, but I'm tall. It worked on my back more than any other thing.
Well...maybe my temper, some.
Somewhere in the middle of these sizes would be good, though.
d=^))
I did learn how to tell
the difference between
coconut trees and banana trees.
It was easy once I knew the trick...
You see, banana trees grow a
special kind of fruit.

big for small and small for big
Explaination:
I go to what I call a small church. About 200 members. I painted the church picture on a two foot by three foot canvas.
Now I've painted Daytona Beach and the boardwalk there.
On an 8"x 11" canvas... to take in the whole ocean, you see.

I really don't like commissions so much
OK, some explanation. The lower half is three washes of acrylic so that people can sign in marker.
Our preacher retired and it was requested of me to produce a painting of the church.
And so...
Last time I saw it, there were about fifty to a hundred signatures on it.
Later, I will request of Bill to come photograph it with signatures.
I had forgotten how much I liked painting 2 foot by 3 foot canvases, and, it makes me a bit sad.
I will be trying to round up enough scratch to get stick supports and make some myself.
and, if I get REALLY bold...
I also like 3'x4'. but THAT really takes the wind out of the sails when one is finished.

Some mix and matches...
(but, don't bother asking why I call them "mix and matches" ... 'cause I ain't tellin')
...so, last shot was a near miss of a nude.
gotta sharpen THAT bone and go hunt the animal, again.
Perhaps a more full figured gal.
One who might just grab up the big knife in the kitchen and come running to help get that bear off their mate's back.
Women are warriors, too.
Don't let anyone ever say different.Well...after a little teevee time...
or after a good book...
well....
I look forward to the fixing up of these...

Some May Say, "A Raven is not a Phoenix,"
and, They Are Right...
It is a Raven. Something from my primal self,
I have no answers except to say
It's a Raven and I think he's getting Fire for
a Wolf in the forest...
And the wolf takes the fire to Man.

been slacking on getting photos of paintings in here.

Favorite Game
DUH...
Fixt the chess board...
kind'a...
Found a King
a Queen
a Rook
and a Knight
I like the Knight...
It's a good Knight.
(Good night?)
Not hardly. It's just half past five now.
Not time for bed, just yet.
Maybe a game of chess...

Photo, anyone?
We'll just write this off as a oops moment for boneman.
Here's the picture I'm working from.
The diagonal of the two players mimics the diagonal on the chessboard, and THAT is what I wanted to accent.
But, two canvases into it, it's not coming.
I'm trying to paint it too small, but then, maybe I should just phlaph at it until it kind'a L( ,)( ,)KS like a game of chess?
Here's the game...
There's two main lines that could have led to this, but, it appears that Black only needs to draw to advance the cut.
And this would be a definable drawish game (..... B-K2)
Still, the juxtaposition of the two players was what first grabbed me.
It may not happen, but, what a nice piece if it does, eh?

Steady At It...
...as I have some trouble translating the computer screen to actual paintings, what I end up with more often than not is, looking at the subject long enough and going off to draw or paint from memory...
But then, the mind of boneman rarely slows down...
As I've a penchant for the game of chess...I've been doing chess pieces. For example, I did a Knight
which you can see if you scroll down last post...
And today, I offer a brand new piece.
Each side gets two of these.
it is the Cow.
It moves one square at a time in any direstion for the first five moves of the game, then not at all until move #41. The piece can't be taken. It is a moo point to attack it. No points, either.
